This is a photo of me with two of the 12th graders at my German high school. The girl on left is Caroline Bolten and the one on the right is Anna Brokmeier. | 9/10/05 After teaching English at Lompoc (CA) High School for three years, I gave up teaching and set off to see the world, joining a very dubious organization claiming to be a group of "publishers' representatives" touring Central and South America. Of course it turned out to be something quite different, so I left them in Puerto Rico where I got a job teaching English and mathematics (in Spanish).
After a year there I gave up teaching, got a job with a (real) publishing house in NYC, but went off on a long European vacation first. On my first day in London I met a nice man at Piccadilly Circus and suddenly found myself teaching again, this time mathematics (in Brrrrrritish English).
When the nice British man was transferred to Germany, I found a job teaching English as a foreign language at a German high school and discovered that I actually liked it and stayed on for 33 years, retiring in July 2005. |
